To celebrate National Children’s Dental Health Month, Kaleideum will host Meet the Dentists Day at Kaleideum North on Saturday, February 9, from 10:30 am-1:30 pm. Dentists and hygienists from Spangler, Rohlfing, & Lambert Pediatric Dentistry will introduce children to proper oral hygiene, discuss foods that keep teeth and gums healthy, and demonstrate the tools that dentists and hygienists use to examine and clean teeth. This is a wonderful opportunity for kids to climb into a real dentist chair, brush and floss teeth in a giant mouth exhibit, and have lots of fun learning about their teeth! The annual event also prepares preschool children for their first visits to the dentist by showing them what they can expect to happen during the appointment, thereby lessening anxiety and fear.
In addition, Kaleideum educators and volunteers will present several related experiments and activities. Visitors can explore how plaque grows with a “Plaque Attack” experiment, floss modeling dough out of block “teeth,” and create their own paper cup animal teeth!
Meet the Dentists Day activities are included with regular admission price and free for Kaleideum members.
