Ready for Some Really ‘Rad’ Reptiles?

SciWorks will celebrate some of the Earth’s most fascinating and misunderstood creatures during Really ‘Rad’ Reptiles Day on Saturday, May 17, from 1 to 5 pm.

Why meet a reptile? You’ll learn some fascinating facts such as:

• “Cold-blooded” is not actually the best way to describe reptiles. Their blood is not necessarily cold, but they are “ectothermic,” which means they get their body heat from external sources.
• Reptiles cannot regulate their body temperature internally as humans do.
• The majority of the world’s snakes are non-venomous.
• Certain types of snakes, particularly the big constrictors, can go months without eating.

At Reptile Day, SciWorks visitors can meet and learn to identify a variety of live reptiles, both big and small, chat with herpetologists, create some reptile crafts, and cheer on SciWorks’ resident turtles in the “Slow-but-Exciting” Turtle Race.In addition, Reptile Day visitors can enter a free drawing to win a Family 4-pack of tickets for Sesame Street Live at the Greensboro Coliseum in June.

All Reptile Day activities are included with museum admission, so come join the fun this Saturday!
