monarch_butterflySciWorks is once again embarking on a “citizen science” program this year through the “Adopt and Release a Butterfly” program.

What is “citizen science?” It is the collection and analysis of data relating to the natural world by members of the general public, typically as part of a collaborative project with professional scientists.

Through the program, for just $25, you or someone you designate will symbolically “adopt” a Monarch butterfly, which will then be released on September 21, 2014. Your butterfly will be tagged with a unique research number, and you’ll receive an adoption certificate plus two free individual admission passes to the release.

Adopt and Release a Butterfly is a wonderful way to commemorate a birthday, anniversary or graduation, or to remember a loved one. Call Ally McCauley at (336) 714-7109 or email amccauley@sciworks.org
for more information or to make an adoption, or stop by SciWorks Admissions desk.
