Interact with a Kaleideum educator in real-time from our learning lab as we investigate and experiment with matter, interact with animals, and explore geology at work in our community. We’ll sharpen our observational skills, practice scientific thinking, and spark curiosity in learners.
Virtual Education Programs are designed to extend and enrich students’ knowledge of related North Carolina Essential Science Standards.
- Program Length: 45 minutes (shorter programs available upon request)
- Program Capacity: 30 participants
- Program Format: Virtual, provided via ZOOM
To get the most out of these interactive Virtual Education Programs, participants will need access to:
- Stable internet connection
- External Speakers
- Large projector screen/smart board connected to the computer or tablet (if projecting ZOOM for a group)
- Webcam (recommended) – allows increased level of interaction with Kaleideum educators
- Microphone (recommended) – allows participant to communicate with Kaleideum educators
To assist with smooth connections with technology, we can set up a technology test session prior to your scheduled program to assess wiFi, audio, and video capabilities and address any technological concerns.

Fur, Feathers, Scales & Slime
Meet Kaleideum’s Animal Ambassadors as we explore differences in animal groups through examining fur, feathers, scales and slime! Join a Kaleideum Educator via ZOOM for this program, which invites wonder and reminds us of our interconnectedness with animals and our environment. Programs are designed to extend and enrich students’ knowledge of grade-level NC Essential Science Standards.

Geology at Work
Experience Geology at Work, at Vulcan Materials Company’s active quarry! Join a Kaleideum Educator via ZOOM for a behind the scenes look at the inner workings of a quarry and see first-hand how aggregate mining provides the building blocks of cities, homes, hospitals, roads, and more. Grade-level programs are differentiated to align with NC Essential Standards and connect learners with grade-level content in meaningful and engaging ways while discovering Geology at Work in our community. From potions in motion to melting and freezing, we will sharpen our observation skills and spark curiosity by bringing solids, liquids, and gasses to life! Join a Kaleideum Educator via ZOOM to investigate properties and states of matter through experiments that illustrate chemical and physical changes. Programs are designed to extend and enrich students’ knowledge of grade-level NC Essential Science Standards.
